Why Mari's Bookshelf

-Marianń Shaw, Author & Owner

As a little girl, reading was never my first choice—it was always music.  If a teacher told me to pick up a book, I would often do the opposite.  Instead of reading, I would write my own stories or reimagine well-known ones, creating new endings or twists.  At first, I think I got away with it, but eventually, I had to face the inevitable and pick up a book.

It wasn’t that I struggled with reading; I just hadn’t found a book that held my attention long enough.  But when I finally discovered one that did, everything changed.  My imagination would take over, and the words on the page seemed to leap into life, transporting me to places where I felt like I was truly there.

That experience sparked something in me, and now I want to use my gift for writing to create stories that ignite a child’s imagination and inspire their creativity. My goal is to show children the magic of storytelling while promoting the joy and importance of reading.

While I am excited to share my stories and overall creativity, I am also looking forward to adding other authors to my digital shelf.  This will be authors of all ages!  For example, my son loves to draw and create comic strips; so, very soon, I will be able to add his books to my shelf as well!  HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?

I truly believe that reading strengthens the mind through education and creativity.  Reading ignites the imagination and builds confidence within talents.  We can not afford to allow not only our children but ourselves as adults to become salves to the era of technology.  Albert Einstein said, "I fear the day when technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots". Such a powerful and yet tough statement to accept let alone understand.

This is why my digital platform is imperative! This  is why my digital shelf is here!  Together (you and I), let's inspire our youth as well as each other to simply pick up a book and read!
